Happy New Year to you all!
I’m so excited about the next decade and where DSP is going! We had a great year of training.
Before I completely close the book on 2019, I wanted to get you all our most viewed videos from Instagram.
Make sure to check the out!
All the Best!

1. Training Session for Meniscus Rehab
Had a rehab training session with Ava Brody. A young athlete that I’ve know since she was 7. Her mom is a DSP Coach and I’ve worked with her for close to a decade as well. Family here!
In our session we focused on the lower half using a lot of unilateral lower body exercises. My goal when training meniscus rehab is to avoid the painful patterns and to hammer everything else.
Knee flexion is the painful pattern for her, which means we get to train the hip hinge on one and two legs.
@ava_brody hasn’t trained in over a year. Take a look at the video. See how sharp she is and why I’ve been begging her to become the next DSP Performance Coach! #kettlebell

2. Kettlebell Circuit Using French Contrast Method
Our version of French Contrast Method Training using a reactive Kettlebell Goblet Squat, Tuck Jump, 2 Hand Kettlebell Swing and a 10 yard sprint.
The kettlebell is the perfect tool for young athletes looking to build explosive athleticism. The versatility of the kettlebell allows an athlete to train for performance ANYWHERE!

3. Half Kneeing Push w/ Medicine Ball Overhead Slam
One of my favorite #medicineball throws. At the top of the list for pitchers. Front leg ground reaction forces during the arm-cocking and arm-acceleration phases strongly correlate with throwing velocity. The drive leg has to generate force through the foot/big toe to initiate the throw as well. @jackson_mayo does a good job with this one here.

4. Medicine Ball Continuous Lateral Hurdle Jump – Shuffle – Scoop Throw
Daniel Fox and William & Mary Football recruit J.T. Mayo eat this one up here!
Medicine ball training can be used to impose a high level of normal, musculoskeletal, and/or cardiovascular stress to a system.
At DSP we believe the medicine ball to be one of the most powerful tools for building explosive athleticism, ESPECIALLY in young athletes.
They’re perfect for connecting our #kettlebell strength work with the coordination areas of the CNS, from our toes to our brains.

5. Dynamic Warmup Using WODFITTERS Bands
Loving the exercise bands from @wodfitters. Not only do we use the bands for our dynamic warmup and explosive exercises, but for our base lifts on speed day as well.
Here are 3 reasons why all athletes should be incorporating resistance bands into their training:
1. Maximal Muscle Tension
2. External Cueing
3. Force Absorption and Force Production
