One Sport Athletes
A good friend posted this excellent article, as it talks about how college recruiters are NOW looking for athletes that play multiple sports. Really??? Nothing gets me going like the topic of “one sport athletes”. As a three sport athlete through my senior year in high school, I find it mind blowing that some coaches and the parents of young athletes who choose to specialize in one sport, do not recognize the benefits of playing different sports. I am glad to see an article like this one go viral on social media!

Video of the Week – Triphasic Kettlebell Power Complex
Check out this advanced Triphasic Power Complex that I used with one of our hockey athletes this past week. It consisted of double kettlebell front squats (isometric hold), single leg hurdle hops into box jumps, 1 arm Dead Cleans, 1 Arm Dead Snatch and Heavy Two Hand Kettlebell Swings. This is how to make an athlete explosive!
Super Endurance Workout – Unloading Week
This week we just finished the isometric phase for our middle and high school groups and I know they are happy!
Isometrics are the toughest phase in the Triphasic cycle. (eccentric, isometric, concentric) They help to build dynamic stability, force production and last but lot least – mental toughness!
So to give our athletes a little break before jumping into the last phase (concentric/reactive) we’re going to use this week to unload a bit with some endurance or higher repetition workouts.
Here is a look at Saturday’s group workout. They ate it up!
