Happy Monday to you all!
First and foremost, I hope everyone had an awesome weekend.
We had another busy weekend at DSP training athletes and certifying Coaches in the “Hardstyle” methods of kettlebell training!
Yep, we held another AWESOME kettlebell cert this weekend! Most in the group were either Chiropractors or Physical Therapist.
And they were sharp!
It’s great to see those on the rehab side of the equation dive deeper into kettlebell training. Once they feel and experience kettlebells taught using “Hardstyle” methods, they immediately connect the dots. They know it could be a game changer for them, their clients and businesses.
Very excited for this group! I highly recommend all of them!
I’m also excited to introduce the newest certified Coaches at DSP, Caroline Fox and Jackson Mayo!
Jackson is headed to pitch at Stevenson University next year and he now will have the skill set to ensure that his fastball stays at 90+!
Caroline is the daughter of Coach Scott Fox and I’ve been trying to get her excited about becoming a Coach since her first day at DSP!
Caroline and Jackson will begin working with clients right away – along with Mr. Sam Wingfield {pictured below}, who is H.K.C. Certified as well. Caroline and Sam are currently interning with us at DSP.
They’re all going to SUPERSTAR Coaches!

Well, I just don’t want you to take my word for how much fun we had. I asked Caroline to give us a recap of her experience from this weekend.
Here it is!
Rule number three in the HKC Professional Code of Conduct says that, as a hardstyle kettlebell certified instructor, I will “continue to refine and improve my skills as an instructor and as an athlete.” To me, that encompasses the beauty of kettlebell training. Getting my HKC certification was not an indication of mastery–instead, it was the acquisition of a tool that I’ll use to continue improving my own life and to help others do the same. I’m a senior in high school who has worked with Darius for less than a year, and yet my athleticism and overall wellbeing have increased exponentially. The HKC certification seminar at DSP only expanded my belief in our approach to kettlebells.
The most recent HKC seminar began at 9:00 in the morning and lasted until 4:30 in the afternoon. This is a prime example of why, as Darius often says, “kettlebells are gold.” We were essentially able to go through a 6-hour workout, energized and feeling strong, simply because of the nature of good kettlebell training. Unlike many programs, where people become certified instructors after reading a manual or listening to a lecture, Darius certifies trainers by immersing them in the kettlebell training experience. He firmly believes that a huge part of training clients is being able to perform the exercises yourself. As a client and future trainer at DSP, I can affirm that truth.
The HKC certification was especially interesting because of the people who attended. I was one of two teenagers there, since most of those in attendance were professionals: physical therapists, chiropractors, or fitness program entrepreneurs. Many of them were motivated to get HKC-certified because they have seen and experienced the impact that kettlebell training can have. Carrie, a personal trainer in Reston, Virginia, fully recovered from a debilitating ACL injury in six months–she attributed that to kettlebells. Others mentioned discouraged clients who started working with kettlebells and quickly became pain-free. When you’re in a room full of people who wholeheartedly recognize the effectiveness of kettlebell training, it’s hard to think of a reason why anyone in the health and medicine industry wouldn’t want to join the movement.
As Darius has proven, kettlebell training requires an open mind, enthusiasm, and passion for leading a healthy life. Although the kettlebell training model might still be unfamiliar to many, it’s adaptable for people of all ages and continuously evolving. At DSP, it’s clear that becoming HKC-certified is only a small part of the bigger picture.
