Rekha began her athletic career in high school where she was a middle distance runner. She went on to compete at the collegiate level for a Division I program; specializing in the 800m and 1500m races. She remained involved in track and field after graduating and continues to work for the National Scholastic Athletics Association (NSAF), a non-profit organization that puts on the national indoor and outdoor high school track and field championship.
Following college, Rekha continued to compete in local road races. She eventually stepped away from competitive running and began focusing on other forms of training – mainly kettlebells. She began training with an RKC – certified instructor in 2009, where she learned the basics of the hardstyle kettlebell technique. She subsequently went on to train under Darius Gilbert, RKC Team Lead, at Dynamic Sport Performance where she is currently a performance coach.
Dynamic Sport Performance specializes in training athletes ranging in age from 8 – adult. DSP’s approach combines tri-phasic movements (eccentric, isometric, concentric) using the kettlebell. DSP’s athletes show marked improvements in speed and explosiveness through a prescribed kettlebell program.
