Happy Labor Day to all!
I am doing my best to celebrate this awesome day by working on DSP’s Winter programs…yes already! I am writing this email from the Starbucks in Crystal City. I like this location a lot… especially today with no one is around because of the holiday.
Speaking of the winter, make sure to be on the lookout for an email from me on Wednesday. If all goes well with my meeting on Tuesday, you can look forward to DSP starting something real BIG in the DMV. I can’t wait!
Also I wanted to let everyone know that we’re hosting our 8th Hardstyle Kettlebell Certification on December 5th. This one will be special! Pretty much our entire 6:30 AM class will be taking the cert along with some of our high school athletes. Nothing makes me smile more! The folks at DSP are serious and I am glad that they’re interested in taking their knowledge of kettlebell training to newer heights!

6 Reasons Why Athletes Need To Develop Maximal Speed
Maximal speed training can do so much more for an athlete than just building top end speed. Adding this type of training to an athletes program can also improve Initial acceleration, Repeat Sprint Ability (RSA) and reduce the likelihood of non contact injuries.

Why We Prefer the Hardstyle Swing
Up last this week is a great video from the “Father of Functional Movement” Gray Cook. DSP Performance Coach, Rekha Ayalur posted this on her Facebook, so I thought I would share it with you all.
There is a constant back and forth between Crossfitters and everyone else that picks up a kettlebell about what’s the best way to perform the Swing. In the video Gray covers the difference between the two styles and why one is better for performance and safety. It’s a short video and definitely worth checking out if you are currently using kettlebells.
